Designer fabric face mask made with Marimekko cotton design “Silkkikuikka” by Maija Isola. This cotton mask is standard adult size, washable and reusable, eco-friendly option to keep one well covered when travel, work or commute.
Please note, the fabric pattern positioning may vary on your specific mask. (If you would like to see an actual pic, just message me.) Each mask comes with a 100% cotton backing for more protection and double 3mm cord side elastic to fit over the ears. The mask is cut and sewn according to the base instructions from Vanderbilt University Medical Center. (The piece starts with 9 x 6 inch rectangular pieces, pleats are added with sewing.) They are handmade “fashion” masks, I make no medical claims with regards to the usage of these masks. Wearing a fun color and a pattern you like will certainly brighten the task of having to wear one.
This fabric is standard weight washable cotton. I recommend air dry. The size of the mask is adult medium (or standard). If you prefer adjustable elastic please add a note to the order.

Marimekko fabric Silkkikuikka is an authentic vintage design by Marimekko’s most famous designer Maija Isola. Silkkikuikka is a bird and this design has a lovely stylized feel of water and nature. Finnish for “great crested grebe”, Isola uses cool-hues and repeating wave-like lines to suggest themes of water, plumage and flight.
This is how Marimekko lists the care instructions:
“Wash separately in plenty of water the first few times to remove any excess dye that may have remained on the fabric surface. Do not soak, machine wash hot at 140F/60C, do not use chlorine bleach, do not tumble dry, iron hot, dry clean allowed.”
