Marimekko red modern design cotton fabric napkins. Rows of large circles on a bright red background, circle coloring varies from pinkish red to orange red to dark red. Fabric design by Maija Louekari, design name “Räsymatto” (rag rug).
Nice bright happy pattern and a high quality cotton fabric, perfect for your stylish dinner table!
The napkins were sewn by me in Maine, they are 17″ square. The napkins are carefully hemmed with a double fold and the corners are mitered for a lovely finish. 100% cotton, machine washable in hot water.
This is a set of two (2) napkins.
Please note that Marimekko cottons should be washed in hot water, at least for the first few times. I make a special point to mention this now in my listings since I’ve had one customer who mentioned a color fastness issue. There is often some remaining dye on fabrics from the factory that will get removed in the first wash. I have never had any issues myself, I wash my Marimekko napkins in hot water with white sheets. This is how Marimekko lists the care instructions:
“Wash separately in plenty of water the first few times to remove any excess dye that may have remained on the fabric surface. Do not soak, machine wash hot at 140F/60C, do not use chlorine bleach, do not tumble dry, iron hot, dry clean allowed.”
Handcrafted in Coastal Maine.

About MARIMEKKO
Marimekko is a Finnish design house based in Helsinki renowned for its original prints and colors. Marimekko has made important contributions to fashion, especially in the 1960s. It is particularly noted for brightly colored printed fabrics and simple styles, used both in women’s garments and in home furnishings. Marimekko’s bold fabrics and bright, simple design strongly influenced late 20th-century taste. Many of the early Marimekko designs, including Maija Isola’s Unikko, remain in production today. They were made famous in the United States by Jacqueline Kennedy, who bought eight Marimekko dresses which she wore throughout the 1960 United States presidential campaign.
Today Marimekko is a leading textile company, producing fabrics, clothing and home furnishings. They have stores all over the world – from United States and Europe to Japan and Australia.
